People who are under stress usually have unpleasant sensations such as racing hearts, clenched stomachs, and shaking hands. These symptoms impede people from making decisions clearly and wisely. So, before saying or doing anything, use a few strategies to get yourself together:
✓Excuse yourself and go to the restroom so you can get out of the situation for a few minutes.
✓Breath in and out to the count of five.
✓Jot down a few thoughts or feelings - you can do it in front of others as people may believe you’re just taking notes.
✓Move your body and go for a walk.
✓Talk with a trusted friend so you can vent your thoughts and feelings.
✓Don’t take any action before you feel recollected.
✓Train yourself to wait. You’ll be fine.
