Why?
Social media profiles play a part in consolidating your personal brand. So, here are five things to consider as you look into your social media channels:
✓ Does your social media handle align with your brand, business, or persona?
Consider the searchability factor when creating your username. Using a handle that’s your full name helps people find you more easily. Use the same username across all platforms: LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
✓ Is your brand info up-to-date and the same across all channels?
If not, fix it as soon as possible in order to consolidate your presence on social media by making your brand consistent.
✓ Are you posting on a regular basis?
Posting regularly increases your following and engagement. Take notice of contents and formats that generate more engagement and create more of it.
✓ Do you have analytics tools to track the growth and engagement of your community?
Buffer and Hootsuite are examples of user-friendly tools you could use to help you track this information.
✓ Are you using the 80/20 rule?
This rule consists of the balance between non-promotional and promotional content on social media. Use 80% of your time on social media to engage your community by taking part in relevant discussions and commenting on your followers’ posts. The other 20% should be spent on promoting your product or service. People who promote their products and services 100% of the time end up losing followers, for people eventually get tired and stop listening.
