Being biased is part of human nature.

However, to be more empathetic, we must overcome our prejudices and preconceptions. Although it's part of human nature to assume things about others, we can actively work towards a more positive way of thinking. Next time you see someone whose characteristics make you think they are lazy or arrogant or any other negative trait, try shifting your attitudes and think about what you know about them - and if you don't know anything at all, ask them! It's an excellent opportunity to practice what we learned in Question 7!
