Why?

Although thousands of visitors walk around the parks every day, you'll never see overloaded trash cans and dirty floors when at Disney. There, trash cans are colorful, plentiful, and carefully placed within 30 feet of each other—an idea that corroborates with research that points out people will only walk a small distance to throw something away. Recently, sensors were added to some trash cans and bathrooms to monitor their use and alert custodians when they need to be cleaned. Similarly, an underground network of pipes connects many trash cans and empties them around every 20 minutes. Albeit simple, this practice highlights a more powerful message: in customer service, we must care about every aspect that is part of the experience, and all things that can damage how a customer views the company must be removed.
