Why?
The fact that tasks are being handed over doesn't mean you are snowing your employees under work. It is quite the contrary, the goal is to take the opportunity to contribute to their performance and development. How so?
Delegating tasks can prove to be a useful teaching moment. Let's say you are asking an employee to do the inventory count. They are learning about the processes related to the task as they go.
How can you accomplish that in a successful way?
➜ Play to their strengths and goals. As a leader, you should know what your employees' strengths and goals are.
If you have been having a hard time identifying that, you should take baby steps into it:
➜ Jot down observations about each employee daily. Observe them working, but most importantly, observe them interacting with others and their moods and attitudes.
That will help you list their strengths and relate to possible tasks that can be delegated to them.
