Why?
The appropriate tone will help convey the message and set the difference between believing and being dismissed.
Your tone converts confidence, enthusiasm, and competence and whether you are, or not, a team player.
How can you sound more confident?
✓ Make 5-second pauses. That buys you time to gather your thoughts and show you are tactful about what you say.
✓ Avoid fillers. They might make you sound unsure. Monitor yourself daily and make a point to reduce them.
✓ Vary your tone according to what you are saying. Make it rise at peak points and lower at serious points. NEVER stick to a flat and monotone!!!
✓ Use a tone of voice that is clear to hear, and that doesn't make the interviewer feel they are being yelled at or even strain to hear you.
✓ Emphasize your words carefully. Emphasis helps convey meaning.
✓ Breathe! Inadequate breathing might cause your voice to break, elevate your pitch and reduce any appearance of confidence.
