Why?
The podcasters on The Femails say that this type of rest requires courage to be authentic. They explain that when someone is emotionally rested, they can be honest about the simplest things, such as a “How are you today?” question. To which they can answer with a truthful “I’m not okay” — and then go on to share difficult things that would otherwise go unsaid.
On The Do Gooders Podcast, Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith states that by being able to express yourself to someone and get the emotional rest of being very authentic and real can be empowering. Yet, she also warns us on how open we are to the people in our lives who don't seem to need anything from us, the life-givers that allow us to pour back into them, that affirm us, that helped us feel love and cherished.
Dr. Dalton-Smith asks:
→ "Are you making room and space in your life for those people, so that they can pour back into you?"
The lack of awareness leaves those places often empty, drained, and burned out - with an emotional rest deficit.
