Sometimes people can go through a situation, and they are scared to go on talking. You can see that when they stop talking for an extended period. Everybody has been through embarrassing situations, and you can help them by giving some encouragement.
You can say:
→ "And then..."
→ "What happened after that?"
Or even ask questions according to what they are speaking about.
You also can help them by validating feelings and thoughts. Such as someone is upset and doing their speech, and you go for:
→ "I understand how you feel";
→ "I would think/feel the same."
This way, they feel that someone gives them support, and they feel more confident about these situations.
