Why?

Putting customers on hold is more common than we think, even though nobody likes it. But it's okay to do it as long as you ask permission first and explain why and for how long you will be away. Keep in mind that studies show that 17 seconds are enough to annoy a customer on hold. If it takes longer than you thought, get back to them and ask if they would like you to return the call later.
