In New York, police officers who have hung up the gloves must register and complete all training. Besides providing the Department of State with a signed letter of good standing from your department. In other states, having previous experience as a police officer or having obtained your private investigator license means you won’t need to undergo further training. You simply need to register within the state in which you live to obtain proper licensure.
