In order to apply for an unarmed security guard license (or Guard Card), most states require a high school diploma (or an equivalent GED certificate). In other words, you need to carry a GED or High School Diploma to be a security guard. On top of that, training is critical, and the state usually requires companies to keep on-the-job training on a regular basis.
