Why?
Once it is all set, you should keep your eyes on the ball, the goal has to be achieved.
It is also important to think about the relevance of the task and fill the gaps between the expected outcome and the colleague's current skills.
Suppose the person needs specific training to accomplish the task. There is the need to work on a spreadsheet and you know the employees need to improve their spreadsheets skills, then it is on you to help and assist them so they build autonomy.
What should you do then?
➜ Train, provide resources, and give them authority. That way they will learn and gain new skills.
Listen to Dave Stachowiak from Coaching for Leaders talking about the importance of autonomy and filling the gap between the team delegated to a task and the steps to accomplish it.
Listen from 19:52 to 23:02.
