Why?

When we aren't interested in what's being said, we show—it can be by fidgeting with our hands, phone, or laptop, avoiding eye contact or shifting too many times in our position. Unintentionally, our body language conveys disrespect and distrust to the other person by showing how distracted or uninterested we really are. For this reason, Olivia Fox Cabane says we have to be present and exhibit presence consciously so those around us feel listened to, respected, and valued. Source: TechTello, 2021.
