Why?

For this method, you sit next to the crib until your baby falls asleep. Every night you move the chair further away until you are outside the room and your baby is falling asleep on their own. This method is for older babies but might not work for all families. Some babies get more upset by their parent’s presence and won’t settle with this method. It can also be harder on the parent because they are watching their baby cry and can’t touch them. This method takes longer to work; around 2 weeks, and it required the parent to be VERY consistent.
