Why?

This method is best for younger babies. If your child is older, they may become upset by your presence. - With this method, you stay in the room until your baby falls asleep. You can pick them up, pat, rub or shh them until they are calm. - Once calm, you wait in the room until they fall asleep. You may need to give your child a few minutes of fussing before you rush over to soothe them though, or you run the risk of creating a new bad sleep habit where they need you to pat them to sleep. - This method takes around 2 weeks and needs consistency from the parent. Make sure your baby doesn’t fall asleep in your arms or while you are calming them.
