There are _____________ types of nonverbal communication.
Why?
Here they are:
- Body movements: These include hand gestures and head movements. They can show the person who is speaking you're paying close attention.
- Space: This can be used to convey many different messages: intimacy and affection, aggression or dominance.
- Posture: This can say a lot about how you're feeling and your attitude towards what's being said.
- Eye contact: Looking at someone a certain way can communicate many things: interest, affection, hostility, or attraction.
- Touch: A handshake, a pat on the head, or a grip on the arm can communicate many different things.
- Voice: This signals the loudness or tone of voice. Someone might be talking loudly to be heard and establish authority, for example.
- Facial expressions: These can be difficult to control, but facial expressions play an important role in indicating someone's attitude, feelings, and thoughts.
- Physiology: This is incredibly difficult to control deliberately and includes changes in our bodies, like rapidly blinking and hand tremors.
