What are discretionary expenses?

Discretionary expenses are non-pressing expenses such as entertainment, dining out, buying gifts, and shopping for watches, perfume, jewelry, and electronics. Allocate a budget for flexible expenses like these. It is also important to not eliminate things like nights out with friends or going to concerts but to reduce and keep them within a budget.
