Why?

The important thing is to make sure you avoid misunderstandings and confusion with the names of those involved. If you're using first-person, remember to identify yourself. For example: – 1st person ‐ I (Security Officer Barrow) saw broken glass on the ground. – 3rd Person ‐ Security Officer Barrow saw broken glass on the ground. You can always check with your company which form is preferred; it's best to write your reports the way your employers find the most helpful.
