Here are the main steps to take when negotiating a salary raise:
✓Find some salary information on Salary.com, Payscale, Glassdoor, or the LinkedIn salary tool. It's also a good idea to consult other people in your industry, both men and women, to avoid falling victim to the gender wage gap.
✓Consider the value you convey through your role in the organization. Write notes on all things you can think of regarding the contribution you make: your expertise in helping close more deals, your ability to streamline processes, improve relationships, or cutting costs. Once you have gathered all this information, you can better convince your employer you deserve what you're asking for.
✓According to your market value, ask for more than what you want, something toward the top of the range. After all, your employer will most likely negotiate down, so you should allow space to close the negotiation with a number you're happy with.
✓Show how enthusiastic you are about working for this company and with your team.
