Why?

#7 Motion waste is related to any unnecessary wear and tear added to the process. Have you ever stopped to think about the time one can waste looking for a file on a computer (or in a file cabinet) or how long some people take to find a pen? Other motion wastes you can add to the list are: ✦ People searching for materials, tools, or equipment. ✦ Unnecessary meetings. ✦ Having to make too many clicks on a website or software to accomplish a small task. This waste examines the actions taken to accomplish a task and how many of them add value to the customers. The scales are tipped by the customer's needs and how much influence these actions have in fulfilling these needs. To put an end to this waste, consider: ✦ How accessible are the tools employees need? (Be that physically or digitally). ✦ How much time is spent in meetings? Are all the meetings relevant, or could they have been an email?
