You can, and you should look serious and focused, but remember that you are there to create a comfortable environment. It is important to show signs that you are open to helping customers and that you aren’t there to threaten them. Imagine you work at a museum. You are the welcome sign of the exhibition. You greet customers as they come in. A simple gentle smile followed by “Good morning” or “May I help you?” does the job! Make sure you: ➜ are polite to everyone; ➜ have a positive attitude and mental outlook; ➜ look neat in appearance. Being polite, friendly, and helpful results in success.
