Why use Active Listening?
Why?
Assuming that most jobs usually require communication skills, such as effective communication or nonviolent communication, Active Listening is not far from these. Most communication skills have it as part of them, yet people miss it.
So, as with every skill we have, it is imperative to work on this one and improve our performance communicating to people better, establishing more valuable conversations, and understanding people's points of view. We can solve many problems and misunderstandings with good dialogue.
Some benefits you can have using Active Listening are:
→ Relationships: It allows you to understand how people feel, and you can use empathy. And you can ask questions to make sure you got everything right;
→ Work: You work your patience and improve the way you interact with your colleagues. It helps you to find problems and develop solutions;
→ Social Situations: You can meet new people by listening. Using the abilities of Active Listening, you can seek more information, get body language cues and interact with people.
