Why?

Women earn less than men do, and, generally speaking, women's contributions to an organization are usually undervalued. Statistics show that the gender gap between equally qualified people in the same position is at 10-20%. Recent studies found that women ask for a raise as often as men but are less likely to get what they ask for. Men got a raise 20% of the time, while women obtained a raise 15% of the time. It's not easy to ask for a promotion or a pay raise even when we know we deserve it, but employers deal with women's requests for advancement differently from men's.
