Why?

Women leaders tend to express more concern towards their employees' feelings of self-worth, are more prone to give credit and praise, and send small recognition signals. They are also more likely to feel the need to compensate for the negativity of certain job positions by reminding employees that they're recognized for their good work and not just their shortcomings. Most importantly, women are more preoccupied with refraining from affirming their own superiority, not to assert the inferiority of others around them. Source: Harvard Business Review, 1990.
