Why?
As part of any learning process, mistakes are made. You should not let that discourage you or your employees.
You have to be open to failure as embracing it gives room for experimentation and empowerment. As people learn from their mistakes, they might eventually take a new approach to the task they were assigned, that results in learning and innovating.
If you are open to new ideas and approaches to the work assigned, delegating is going to come easier for you.
How can you do that?
➜ Open room for you and your employee to learn from whatever mistake.
Allow them to work on it as freely as possible and ask questions whenever they feel the need.
There is a direct relationship between how much people are invited to talk about the job and how much they understand it, accept it, and become committed to it.
➜ Delegate in a way that people walk away feeling, ‘‘This is my job; I own it.’’
