Why?

The way people perceive you has a great influence on your first impression. That's why it is important to project an image of confidence, poise, and decisiveness. You have to master your presence! Here is how you can do it: ✓ Fine-tune how you express yourself. Your presence is inherently connected with how you communicate. ✓ Be clear, concise, and project confidence. Instead of saying: "I guess..." say, "Based on ABC, I see it this way..." Structure your answers, so the bottom line comes first, or recommendations come first. Then you complement with details and analysis as needed. ✓ Use your voice. Make it confident and firm, your non-verbal behavior (look people in the eye, stand up straight), and your appearance to contribute to your lasting presence. ✓ Be present. Use your body language to show you pay attention to everyone around you, smile and nod accordingly. Don't let multitasking, averting your eyes, and looking outside distract you.
